I am quite serious about this.  I propose that the Dominion known as Canada be admitted to the Republic of Atlasia as the sixth Region.  Each province would be treated as a state.  The territories would combine to form state #11 in the Region.

This is just a game, so really, what stands in the way of this?  The only road-block would be Canadian public opinion in the fictional world of Atlasia.  My suggestion to the GM is that the opinions of real life Canadians in Atlasia be used to measure this.

The point is it would add a new region, giving Atlasians the opportunity to build an entirely new regional government from the ground up, with its own distinct flavor.

Where would the people to populate this new region come from? I think losing any significant number of people would cripple the Southeast.

The Northeast has a few to spare. Wink

Seriously though, I don't think that there's enough people with any interest to populate a new region. Maybe a few RL Canadians, and that may be it.

Hasn't this been proposed quite a few times before, without result?

If this happened, the Northeast would probably become the smallest region.

I've personally never been crazy about the idea. It would be an interesting addition, would add a Senate seat if it's a region, and all that fun stuff, but it wouldn't add enough in my mind that is solves any of the problems we face right now.

I suppose I don't see the point is all. Also I would have concerns about the VP's ability to tie-break votes if we added only one extra Senator. (Maybe if we added another through at-large means. One of my priorities is finding ways to expand representation, so if there was ever a way to win me over with this proposal, it would be through that pitch.)

And I can definitely say I'd totally move to Quebec if we did so. Tongue

Agreed, the Southeast cannot afford to lose anyone at the moment.

Once, in a fictional land called The United States of America, there was a group of people that thought annexing Canada would be a good idea. Long story short, the capital, Washington D.C., was burned to the ground and thousands died in a pointless war.

I agree because some Canadian providences have strong nationalist ties with america and thus they must be included in our reich.

No, that's no good; we don't have a large enough population to sustain another region.

So, while creating a new region it's pointless, Canada shall either stay independent or become next state of Midwest. Preferably the State of Depression.

I think this would be a bad idea. I wasn't a fan of adding Puerto Rico either but that was minor in the overall picture.

No/the number of regions should be reduced to three.

Since I can (briefly) speak on Great Midwest behalf... The Great Midwest can accept annexation only if Canada became next Midwest state. Otherwise, never.
