I realize that it already became irrelevant with the advent of health insurance and HMOs, but is the Hippocratic Oath even a factor to any medical practitioner any more?

I mean, you people do realize he's not actually turning people away right? All he's doing is putting a political statement on his door, which is his right. An Obama Supporter, if he wasn't horrendously traumatized by that statement (like some were), could still just open the door and conduct business as usual; and considering the best argument from Alan Grayson, the doctor's congressman, was that he was a racist, it's pretty obvious who's right here.

I'm sure he talks a lot about politics in his sessions, which is why he put up the sign in the first place. I read that his waiting room has a pile of Republican brochures with a sign telling people to read them to learn about how Obama is screwing up health care (although not that vulgarly.) I guess he wants to be able to talk freely about his political views with his patients and would rather lose some than not express himself for fear of offending someone.

How would he know if they voted for Obama or McCain anyway?

Not if he took the Hippocratic Oath.

Pace, boys.  It's a pr stunt nothing more, but it gained national attention.....you can't buy that exposure.......he'll probably net out more patients than less.

I am guessing he has asked people what they think about Obamacare or started talking about why he opposes it, and then got some unexpected pushback from a patient.
