I'm going with option one. President Romney and Vice President Marsha Blackburn
Before I begin the actual election timeline I am going to give some background information on this presidency:
As of April 1, 2010
Unemployment Rate: 9.8%
Chief of Staff: John Campbell, former California Congressman
Senior Advisor: Alex Castellanos
Political Advisor Advisor: Beth Meyers, former campaign manager
Press Secretary: Matt Rhoades, former communications director
Secretary of State: Kenneth W. Dam, former Deputy Secretary of State under Ronald Reagan
Secretary of Homeland Security: Rudy Giuliani, former Mayor of NYC
Attorney General: Michael Steele, former Lt. Governor of Maryland
Secretary of Treasury: Meg Whitman, former CEO of Ebay
(Other staff to be mentioned later)
Count in the U.S. Senate: 59 Dems, 41 Repubs (Arlen Specter doesn't switch parties, Kennedy dies, Coakley wins election easily).
Count in the House: 257 Dem-178 GOP
Romney Approval: 46% Disapproval: 49%
Major Controversies:
American Energy Discovery and Utilization Act (Calls for Offshore Drilling). This was the most partisan bill so far. Conservative Dems and Repubs support this bill, but moderate and liberal Dems do not.
"I Will Not Socialize Our Health Care System" After Sens. Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Al Franken, Barbara Boxer, etc., pushed Romney to reform health care system, he gave a speech before Congress saying that he would not allow a government takeover of the health care system. Not received well by poor and Middle America.
Executive Order: Secure Border Along Mexico: Romney instructed Giuliani and Border Patrol Service to use resources to construct a fence along border with Mexico. Additionally, more troops have been placed along the border. Illegal immigration to the US from the south has decreased by 19.8%, but violence along the border has risen by 12.4%, leading some to call this the "militarized border."
