Without 9/11, the Iraq War would be even more unpopular than it already was.

There would have been no Iraq War without 9/11. Even if Bush wanted to go into Iraq, I think that almost all Democrats and even many Republicans would oppose the idea without 9/11 since people would be worrying about the economy and any foreign adventure would be much more unpopular.

The Iraq war would still have happened. You said "Everything else stays the same."

Let's see, Bush would have had to stick to his compassionate conservative schtick in 2000. He would have worked on balancing the budget. Unemployement would have stayed about the same under his watch. However, 2,000,000 jobs would have been lost come 04. It would be interesting to see what would have happened in NOV 04.

Bush also would have focused on the following due to no 9/11, Afghan war, or Iraq
1.Education: No Child Left Behind
2.Energy: Drilling for more oil here

I think he gets reelected.

Bush lost 16,000 net jobs in his first term, not 2 million.

Are you kidding? With Al Gore off the hinges the way he was after 2000. He would've looked like an insane nut.

Al Gore went way off the hinges after 2000. There is no way in hell he's be competitive in 2004. 9/11 or no 9/11!
