Oh, indeed Brad Ellsworth is much stronger than this I think he may indeed ultimately win this race once the campaign fully begins in the summer and fall.

With Bayh out of the way, I really think this race is the Republicans' to lose. Indiana is a very red State. An open seat seems like a near slam-dunk to me. Before anyone mentions the fact that Obama won Indiana, I think that was a major freak incident, and it will be a long time before we see anything like that happen again in Indiana.

Selzer does polling on Indiana, I would like to see a poll that's not R2K or Rasmussen that's shows polling. I bet it's none other than a six pt race at this point. And Ellsworth already beaten Hostettler, let's see that poll.

Considering what type of year this is shaping up to be, it really shouldn't matter much that the GOP nominee is awful and the Dem nominee is conservative enough to have appeal.

I think Ellsworth is favored. Coats and Hostettler are disgusting.

This is true, but Democrats have cause for optimism that their candidates can lose it.

I think Indiana is still very much a battleground in presidential races, and despite its conservative leanings, Ellsworth has the working class background to win in a conservative purple state.

I find it hard to believe a former Congressman who received a 24-point thrashing over three years ago would be polling so well. I'll wait & see other polls before making any real judgments here.

Well, anything can happen - ask Martha Coakley - but I have to feel pretty good about this race right now.
