Democratic:

Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana/Senator Bill Nelson of Florida

Republican:

Former Governor Mike Huckabee/Governor Jim Douglas of Vermont

Very unlikely, but discuss...

You think Huckabee would lose WV?

not to speak for him, but absolutely: Bayh is basically Clinton without any of the baggage. West Virginia isn't the Republican stronghold many make it out to be. Gore lost because of environmental issues and taking the state for granted, Kerry lost because of culture, the war, and a terrible campaign, and Obama lost because of race.

It has nothing to do with WV being a Republican stronghold.

It has to do with Huckabee being the ideal candidate for WV.

Huckabee is a Republican version of Clinton combined with a social conservatism that would make him even more appealing to a state like West Virginia. No way Bayh beats Huck there barring a massive landslide.
