Mexico City is a full-fledged state in the United States of Mexico, unlike Washington D.C. in the USA. The city already had legalized civil unions, and their legislature has just passed a law legalizing Gay Marriage. The mayor is expected to sign it shortly.

It's amazing to me how much global urban culture has homogenized.

Isn't gay marriage legal in Buenos Aries already? Or is that just civil unions?

Civil unions. The ruling of the judge last month that legalized gay marriage (before it was overturned a couple of days before the wedding) was only going to affect the city of Buenos Aires.

Considering that the matter is now in the supreme court hands and that the ruling party is planning on debating a bill in congress i think that nationwide gay marriage is very close to being a reality.

It's now official, Mexico City is the first location in Latin America with full-fledged Gay Marriage.

Also, Ron Paul:

For those not knowing, Matrimonio = Marriage, and the Spanish word for gay is, in fact, gay.

Is that crowd trying to gay marry lot?

no, it's a crowd refusing to tolerate any objections to the morality of their lifestyle...and it is also a prophecy for the last days.

Fair enough, but do you think such a measure is really going to be the straw that breaks the camel's back, if its not broken already?

The world will end soon, I'm sure this is the biggest sign of it, don't worry.

They're probably mostly Catholics who'll burn in hell anyway for false idolatry, no biggie.

Like people who can't stand gays/gay marriage because they're think their own morality is the only correct one?

For what it's worth, according to the exit polls 53% of California Hispanics voted to ban gay marriage last year.
