If there is a God, why would He do that?

"A 45-year-old devout Catholic was killed recently in Vienna, Austria, shortly after a harrowing experience on a stuck elevator. The man had been so traumatized that, following his rescue, he went straight to the Weinhaus Church to give thanks. However, as he approached the altar, an 850-pound stone pillar fell and crushed him."

Ew, crazy coincidence!!

To be fair, what devout Catholic wouldn't want to die in front of the altar? A promising afterlife should be waiting for him.

At least he died doing what he loved, being crushed by a large stone pillar.

Except Job was (according to the Bible) tested to prove his faith. This guy just died...

Hey, according to those who believe in it:

"You can't know why 'God' do such or such."

"And 'him/it' knows everything, then maybe things you don't..."

There is a simpler French expression to sum it:

Les voies du Seigneur sont impénétrables... Son.

I really really can't believe I have to explain the fallacies of this thread...

If there is a God, why would He do that?

First, how could anyone know unless a revelation was given to him, that "God did this"?!  And, since you are an unbeliever, certainly no revelation was given to you.  So, basically you are assuming "God did this", when in fact the laws of physics God set up don't exactly require God's constant divine intervention for them to continue functioning.

Want to test my theory?  Take out a knife and attempt to cut off your right index finger and see if God is going to intervene or if you're going to the emergency room to get your finger put back on.

The fact of the matter is, some things happen as a result of process - perhaps no one knew or foresaw the decay of the structure supporting the pillar and it just simply fell due to the natural forces God put in place during the creation of the universe.
