Dude... why were you ever in the Republican Party?  90 percent of the views you express contravene GOP positions, both today, and at any other point in the last 30 years.

To you this might be a glorious day, but to me you're still a part of the two party oligarchy.

well, you've mastered most of the traits of a Democrat, right down to the elitism of mocking the less fortunate (see your sig)....so might as well change your registration.

Well that's pretty fucking ignorant of you to stereotype those who shop at Walmart as less fortunate.........how does that fit in with your personal philosophy.

dude, I didn't say anything about those who shop at Walmart, rather I referred to the two people pictured in his sig.  he's mocking them, is he not?  and they do appear less fortunate, at least in terms of having common sense - though they still appear to have more sense than those who strut out their foul language on an internet forum in the deluded belief that it makes them appear smarter or tougher or cool.

So you were expecting five minutes of fame for this or something? Who cares? Nobody's going to know or care what is written on your voter registration card.

Welcome across the aisle.  I made the same switch almost a decade ago - though to paraphrase Reagan I didn't so much leave the party as the party left me.  The GOP is far different than the party it used to be.   As Bill Maher stated:

Quote

The Republican party used to believe in pragmatism.  In being fiscally responsible, with a focus on outcomes rather than mere dogma.  Now tests of ideological purity are the party norm with a religious zeal.  Even Barry Goldwater saw this problem coming.  Barry-freaking-Goldwater - not a liberal by any stretch of the imagination:

Quote

With the failures of '84 and '88 behind them, the Democrats moved toward center, and toward pragmatism.  The 'third way' stylings of Clinton pretty much crossed over into the realm where the GOP used to hold sway.  Meanwhile, the Republicans focused more and more on appeasing the rise of the religious right and fixated more on how to play the game of politics (and appease special interests) than on effective governance.

Perhaps if they get creamed in 2012 they will find their way again.  Perhaps it will take them a few cycles.  Frankly, I'd rather choose between two good candidates than between a good candidate and a nutjob; so I do wish them well in regaining their sanity.  But it will probably take time.

What is it you don't like about the GOP?  Is it foreign policy, religion, social issues, free-market rhetoric, hypocrisy, corruption, all of the above, or something else?

why do people speak of plutocracy as if it is a bad thing?

i, of course, think a plutocracy is the way to go.

people, you need to drop the pretense that you 'care' about your fellow man.  most of you dont.  but of course it isnt politically correct to openly admit that.

im selfish.  i care about myself and my family.  if joe blow down the street is struggling to get by, it doesnt concern me.

we need a free market system with the achievers at the top.

I don't think switching parties carries much informational content these days, about much of anything. So yawn.
