From the Flagpole, a popular Athens, GA magazine, obviously quite liberal minded. The author predicts that Paul Broun will win the nomination and fool everyone into believing that he is a palatable, mainstream Republican
The Republican establishment is about to find out statewide what they should have learned already in the 10th District: There is no room to the right of Paul Broun (Jr.). He owns it to infinity. He is the logical result of everything the Republicans have done politically in Georgia. They built it, and Paul Broun has come. He won’t even have to be too outrageous to win. He’ll run a respectable, conservative campaign, and anybody who runs against him will look moderate, which is like liberal. Paul will win, and then the hijinks will begin. The U.S. Senate is the ultimate arena for buffoonery.http://www.flagpole.com/news/pub-notes/2013/02/20/our-buffoonIf you read the whole thing, you'll learn about the author who sat down to lunch with Paul Broun during his first house campaign and concluded that he was a sensible Republican- basically he was hoodwinked. I'm not sure if I entirely agree with him. I'm sure the voters in the primary and the general will be treated to some of his more colorful quotes, but I do agree that he probably will avoid the Todd Akin label, because it's Georgia, and people actually believe most of the crazy stuff he says.
