It's the only EU country with fascists currently in government (The SNS is easily the worst party that is part of government in any EU country, hands down), and the fascist parties overall got close to 20%. This is close to what fascists have gotten ever since independence. What's wrong with there?

Too bad because it does seem like a good country otherwise.

... and Smer, while not outright fascists, are definitely fascist-enablers who hate freedom.

Not surprising considering its history and ethnic composition.

What more do you expect from a Slavic nation?

Slavic sympathy for fascism makes no sense considering Nazi racial beliefs.

Yes, I would say that in Slovakia's case the strong fascism movement is related to its history and ethnic composition. On one hand there is a significant Hungarian minority, which historically dominated the country and was used during WW II to annex large parts of country, so in the minds of nationalists they are a significant threat. There is also a significant gypsy minority, which all over Eastern Europe is a favorite target for extremist groups. I'm not saying that this thinking is logical, but only that it explains the strength of fascism there.

Look at the ethnic makeup of Slovakia and said minority's role in history.
