Here's an interesting map: areas that have elected a Labour TD since 1923. Note that the sheer number of boundary changes in County Cork renders the map there nearly meaningless.

I was surprised at how well Labour did in the 1920s. It won seats almost everywhere, but its performance in Dublin was rather weak.

Why?

At the time it mostly got the votes of agricultural labourers. It didn't become a 'Dublin party' until 1969 really.

Jim Larkin split the trade unions in Dublin in the early 20s and took umbridge against the Labour party for quite some time.

Also, Fianna Fáil was in the market for those votes as well.
