According to this, his approval rating if 38% / 54% ............chances are not good for reelection. Even Dodd has better ratings.

I would say that 2012 is a long ways away, and we don't know who will win. Also, I find it funny just 9 years ago Democrats were in love with Lieberman, but now they hate him because they disagree on some things.

He would either have to caucus with the GOP or be a member of the GOP to have a remote chance at being elected.

Oh, would I love to see Lieberman in the Republican caucus. I bet you guys wouldn't take his crap.

That best thing that could happen for Republicans in CT in 2012 would be Liebermann retires and they convience Jodi Rell to run.

WTF?
Democrats were in love with Lieberman? Why?
Because he made Dick Cheney look likable?

His decision will depend on which party looks likely to take the majority.  That way he gets to keep his butt in a committee chairman's seat.

I doubt it.  Its over for him in regards to the Democrats.

Now you mention it, Durbin (or Schumer) would not reward him for constantly crapping on the Democrats in the same way Reid keeps doing.

Yes, it's all the liberals' fault that Joe Lieberman is a mercurial attention whore who loves nothing more than to stab Democrats in the back. What was it that the Democratic Senate caucus did to punish him after he campaigned for McCain? Oh yeah, nothing.

I was referring to people that actually had a snowballs chance in Hell of being an elected Senator there, sorry for the confusion.

The Connecticut for Lieberman Party needs to find another guy named Joseph Lieberman and run him; hopefully enough low-information Joe supporters would vote for the "other" Lieberman to ensure a Democratic win.

I would say that 2012 is a long ways away, and we don't know who will win. Also, I find it funny just 9 years ago Democrats were in love with Lieberman, but now they hate him because they disagree on some things.

Few of us "were in love with" Lieberman 9 years ago, we just hated Cheney much, much more (with good reason).

Saying Leiberman has opposed the party on "some things" when the primary two include the Iraq War and Health Care Reform ignores those are the two most important political issues of the last decade. Then there's that whole unconditional support of McCain over Obama in last year's election. I'm sure conservatives wouldn't feel that way about a GOP senator doing the same thing.

His switch on health care is particularly galling as he backed universal health insurance coverage only months ago, and ACTIVELY ran on that in his 2006 reelection bid. He's clearly switching now out of a combination of a spiteful F. U. to the progressives who are fed up with him, plus a chance to feather his post-senatorial career as a lucrative health care "consultant" like his wife.

What's perhaps most justifiably pisses progressives off is that unlike some blue dog Dems from southern or rural districts Lieberman isn't doing this out of electoral necessity or supporting the conservative views of his constituents. The public option is supported by over 70% of Conneticut voters (including Lieberman until not long ago).

Can't wait for Senator Blumenthal in 2012.
