In a very low turnout, a quite surprising result, with, for the first time, the implementation of my tie-breaking rule...

Michael Collins is the only one not to have received any vote.

I vote for Mary Robinson again.

Michael Collins is the only one not to have received any vote.

Well that changes now.
Collins was a strong military leader and an efficient administrator, but I don't think he was effective enough in the Treaty negotiations nor do I believe he would have been a good Government leader.

Michael "you can have your 7 minutes" Collins

A really surprising finale !

And while I was typing the results, Isaac voted for Collins... but the tie-breaking rule prevails and Robinson is ousted.

Well, I can't decide now...

REMEMBER YOU STILL VOTE TO ELIMINATE.

For the f- sake the only two bearable choices were the previous two eliminated. And I was unavailable yesterday due to flu.

Anyway, I'm voting to eliminate Lemass. I'm not happy with Collins winning for a variety of reasons but I'd even unhappier with Lemass winning. He basically created the modern Fianna Fail Party and while yes he is the only taoiseach who can be considered an unambigious success that fact does not take away from various other facts about him.

Urgh. Though I suppose choosing between shit and shite is the norm for Irish politics. Abstain.

I wanted Robinson to win. Sad
Not sure why she was eliminated.

Anyway, I'm sticking with Collins - whose place on the list is itself questionable.
Lemass was a fine Taoiseach.

I vote for Collins and Lemass is a surprising survivor !
First time I see a survivor lost by left leaders... and even without my vote needed ! Grin
(is Lemass a rightist ? that's another discussion Wink)
I was about to vote to eliminate Lemass, as Collins is the only Irish "hero", but that would have been hypocritical... Anyway, Lemass would have won.

Not precisely a playboy, eh ?

We didn't have any 'left' leaders. In certain ways actually (but not crucially in others) Lemass was fairly leftish. Certainly compared to those that followed him.

Anyway, BOO.

Compared to the others? Yes. She was a certain type of self-righteous liberal (not necessarily a bad thing).
