No.  I don't even really know what's going on over there.

Well, I suppose you wouldn't have cared about Tiananmen Square either, but the rest of the world did.  History is being made sir.

Anyway, Tianenmen Square didn't change anything in China, so big deal.

I would argue that it changed a hell of a lot, at least as much as the 2008 presidential election did in America, and you're sitting here on this forum.

Yes.  Too bad the protests probably won't change anything.

Correct. Until Khomeni is drug out into the street and shot like a dog, nothing will change.
well Khomeini might deserve being dug up from the grave and shot it seems just a little unnecessary Tongue

Yeah, I realized I put the wrong name up, forgot to edit it. Tongue

I'm just envious that the Iranians are less sheepish than we Americans are.

Don't be a tool.

Yes, insofar as I acknowledge the world beyond the borders. This is certainly something that could be important (which is more than most "news" can say).

I do not share the Trotskyist zeal of my co-nationals for global liberal revolution, so no, not really.

Yeah, I'm probably just being too optimistic, as I'd bet that the CIA is involved with this somehow, given their reputation for doing stunts like this.

Yes. This would cause a full-scale civil war, Khamenei being a supreme religious leader. It would like shooting the pope to some, if not most, Iranians.

Then nothing will come of all this protesting, except for many young people getting murdered by the state. Many of the protesters have expressed disgust at Khameni and have called him a dictator.

That's obviously a matter of opinion, and apparently we disagree.  I do not feel required to care about stuff like this.

And I started posting here because I'm interested in American election maps, not riots in foreign countries.

It has the head in the sand quality of some of BRTD's threads.

Not to say that anyone should be required to care about events happening half a world away.

Actually, Joe is reminding me of Tweed more and more these days (angrily "apathetic"). It's alarming.  Sad

But he's still Joe.

My lack of a position on most hot button issues is certainly not a new thing.

By the way, please don't compare me to Tweed.  I may care as little about stuff as he does, but I don't try and spout pseudo-philosophical rationales for why I don't care about things.  Why not?  Because I don't care enough.  Wink

You can not share that "zeal" and still care about the fallout. Just saying.

CIA-sponsored regime change is far more efficient than this. If the Americans were behind this, it would be over already.
