I say Indy, even though Green Party's closer to "Islamic" green.

If the consensus is against me, I will change.

People are changing their avatars in solidarity?  Oh dear.

It's the least I can do for the people of Iran.

Seriously, it's the absolute least I can possibly do for the people of Iran.  I recommend doing something more proactive, like writing to your Congressman demanding a nonbinding resolution condemning the Iranian electoral process.  Or putting the phrase "We are all Iranians today" into Babelfish to find a Farsi transliteration.  Or wear green ink on your fingers.

Ok.  I prefer to not.

(Although it's amusing that technically I'm a part of this futility simply by maintaining the status quo.)

I have done my part by assisting in denial of service attacks against Iranian government websites. Also if anyone's willing to set up some proxy servers for Iranians twittering to get around internet censorship, go check it out.

More people should do this. It feels so punx to be apart of stuff like that and it is actually doing something worthwhile.

I like the Green party green more than the Independent green, which is kind of ugly. Also it's the green movement, not the independent movement, so...

Independent green, for the same reason as officepark. I will change my avatar to that now.

It's of little consequence so long as those colors don't run.

Here's another way to help: If you sign up for Twitter (yeah I know I was NEVER going to do that either), make your time zone Tehran's to make things more difficult for government spooks to track the real Iranians posting.

That's actually a really good idea.

I suppose this is why I've been seeing more lime-green avatars around here than usual, then?  Tongue

I know.  I get so tired of the avatar and name changes.  I realize I am an old but take some pity guys...

Plus, we never know if you are changing avatars because you have sincerely changed parties, to be goofy or out of "solidarity" for some off reason.

Can we not, huh?

guys, the lighter green is the correct color, the darker one is more easily confused with generic support of Islam.

like, when the Iranian football team played South Korea, they wore light green armbands,

I love the plethora of neocons here.

The true neocon position is support of the most tyrannical regime in Iran possible, so that hard-line policies against the nuclear and anti-Israel state are easier to manufacture than they would be against a more reformist, but still nuclear state.  At least that’s what the most neocon of writers are going on about in their articles and editorials and such, that and taking a hard-line stance now and interfering over there, but I don’t think those wearing green believe this is for America to get involved in.  Eh, noninterference = neocon?

So I disagree intensely, I suppose

At the very least, it disgusts me that any statement of support for the students being beaten to death in their dorm rooms = “omg neocon” if that’s what you intend to imply.  That's borderline offensive.

The world is shaking a little, can you feel it?
