Clueless, just like he's been for the last 7 1/2 years he's been in office.

Smash, you expect him to tell America that we're in the worst economic troubles probably since the 70s at least? What exactly would that accomplish besides exacerbating the situation and causing the public to go into a media driven frenzy?

Seriously, yes he's lying. Anyone who's paying attention knows that much. But you'd have to be clueless to think that he'd say any otherwise.

He could just have a turd in his pocket. If you are student of the last 30 or 40 years of politics, you eventually learn that every republican beyond congressional leadership has at least one turd in their pocket.

Bush is a failure and a moron. We've all known that for a while now. No reason to listen to what that loser has to say anymore. But it is true he couldn't say things that made our economic future look dire.

I know he is not going to go out and say the economy is garbage and don't expect him to However, you can still try and put your best face forward without sounding you live in some alternate universe.

It's one thing to ignore the realities of the situation, but it's another entirely to make the market panic more by admitting it's in dire straights. Optimism is good for the situation in this case even if it doesn't mirror, you know, reality.

Why don't you play speech writer Smash. What would you have him say when talking about the economy on a day where one of Wall Street's biggest lenders just got bought for $2 a share?

Atleast he would be honest to us instead of lying about the situation and trying to convince millions "oh we're just fine....dont worry" when in reality...everything isnt fine.

And then have CNN, FOX, and MSNBC run that tape for a week causing Americans to do into a tizzy and start doing stupid things that a cable news "expert" advises?

No, I prefer to hear lies, especially when I know what's going on.

I am not sure flat out lying and clueless are mutually exclusive.  The Decider has plumbed the depths of both, I think.

I agree that he's lying. But refusing to acknowledge a problem just makes it worse. Besides, the Media is already acting like we're on the brink of Great Depression: Part II. He might as well take action now and level with us.
