I don't think this has been discussed yet. Also, the article says that he endorsed Kerry in 2004... really?! Smith was one of the most conservative Senators. This is the guy who almost defected to the Constitution Party (then the US Taxpayers Party) after losing the Republican nomination for President in 2000.

he endorsed kerry because the bush administration encouraged sununu's primary challenge in 2002.

He actually was in the race for awhile, I believe.

I loved how he backed Kerry in 2004 because of "spending issues." Yeah, I guess so, Bob. Bush and Co. sure did spend a lot on Sununu.  Tongue

if he makes the ballot, it'll help Crist against Rubio, depending how much of an ABC - anyone but Crist - attitude there is among voters with no familiarity with Smith's political history
