Yes. Like I said, completely nationalize it, lay off the entire workforce, and start over and rehire everyone from scratch.

No. Because of its sheer size, AIG is simply too risky to be backed by the full faith and credit of the US Government. It potentially could be such a money black hole that the US Government's credit rating could take a hit.
