but I still want to ban trans fats!

the real answer here is that we are all far more authoritarian than we realize, at least within the context of our own lives.  I would be pretty upset about my hypothetical daughter dating a black man, even though I would have no *rational* reason to feel that way.  I also wouldn't be wild about my son being a homosexual.

relative to others and in relation to this question, you aren't authoritarian.

I think I am pretty relaxed, even though I really dislike little kids, I give them lots of free space and let them do whatever they want really if I babysitt. Now that I think about it I am one of the most unauthoritarian people I know, when on the outside I seem like a very bigoted and a person full of hate because of my jokes and dislike of most people.

would you be ok with half-black grandkids playing in your front lawn in 40 years?

maybe this actually doesn't have anything to do with authoritarianism, but anyway, I've been watching Season 1 of The West Wing on a DVD set that I got 5 years ago.  I didn't get around to watching it until the past few days and I've realized how good it is.  one of the episodes I've watched today is the one where Zoey asks Charlie out and Leo asks Jed if he had a racial issue.  his answer was a clear "no" but it got me thinking again.  and no, I wouldn't be ok with little black grandchildren playing in my front lawn.  and it's not something I'm proud of to feel that way, but I do.  so I probably shouldn't talk about it.  if it ever came to that I'd hopefully be evolved as a person enough to swallow my pride and experiences and old stories from my grandpa about how the LIRR pursued affirmative action on the railroads in the 60s and all of these lazy, underqualified black people got nothing done and couldn't be fired because the LIRR had quotas to meet so people like my grandpa had to pull twice their share.

stupid innate racism Sad

Extreme authoritarian who openly admitted to racism and homophobia. Guess what, not everyone is the same as you. This includes preferances in who they want to date. I'd only bitch if they dated someone who was obviously a lower class/ghetto/trailor park type or a practicing muslim(lapsed muslim is fine).

Also I've got something else to say to you tweed. Listen you worthless emo hack, If we had more people 'performing race treason'(your words) we'd have much less in the way of societal dysfunction since there'd be less inter-communal isolation and more ties. People like you are why things like white flight exist and why Jim Crow lasted in practice into the 70s. You sicken me and are a vile excuse for a human being.

Straha has an authoritarian streak, but it's a very zigzaggy streak that hits some issues dead on and completely misses others.

Ha.

He reminds me of a line I saw in a movie about the American revolution:

British soldier tears into house, starts destroying things.

The American woman inside begs "why are you doing this?"

Soldier "To make the world England."
