The Voting Booth for December 2008's propositions will be open from now until 23:59 eastern time, Monday 22nd. Voting is open to all citizens of the Northeast.

You may edit your ballot up to 20 minutes after it is first posted. Any edits after 20 minutes will result in the disqualification of your ballot.

FREE HIGHWAY ACCESS ACT OF 2009

Whereas tolls on roads such as the Pennsylvania Turnpike, the Garden State Parkway, and the Mass Pike cause significant traffic delays, increased pollution due to idling cars, higher costs due to unnecessary bureaucracy and labor expenses, and a "hidden" tax on commuters; and,

Whereas virtually every toll road in the region was built under the guise of the tolls being "temporary" and for the sole purpose of paying for the roads' construction; and,

Whereas every citizen of the Northeast should have free and unfettered access to the roads and highways of the Northeast; therefore be it resolved that:

1. DETERMINATION OF COSTS. The Northeast Region shall form a commission to determine the total costs associated with eliminating all toll roads in the region.

2. CONVERSION TIMETABLE. The Northeast Region shall devise a plan to convert all toll roads over the course of the next five years (by Jan. 1, 2014) to "free" highways.

3. GAS TAX INCREASE. Maintenance costs for the converted roads shall be paid for through a proportional increase in the gas tax, the magnitude of which shall be determined by the commission provided for in Section 1.  Any increase in the gas tax shall be sent to the legislature for final approval.

4. BRIDGE AND TUNNEL EXTENSION. The Free Highway Access Act of 2009 shall similarly seek to eliminate tolls at Northeast Region bridge and tunnel crossings.  Due to the oft higher tolls at bridge and tunnel crossings, these tolls shall be phased over the course of ten years (Jan. 1, 2019).

5. EFFECTIVE DATE.  The Free Highway Access Act of 2009 shall go into effect at midnight on Jan. 1, 2009.

Sponsored by Mr. Moderate

Amendment to the 2007 Campaigning for Invalidation of Votes Initiative

Section 1.1 of the Initiative shall be amended to read "It shall be a crime against the Northeast Region for any Northeast citizen to instruct or encourage a voter who has already cast his or her ballot to take an action that would have the effect of invalidating the ballot."

Amendment to the 2008 Smoking Age Standardization Act

Whereas it is commonly accepted, both by society and by law, that Northeast citizens become adults at the age of 18,

Be it resolved that the following amendments be made to the 2008 Smoking Age Standardization Act:

1) All instances of "19" shall be amended to "18".
2) All instance of "29" shall be amended to "28".

Third Constitutional Convention Petition

The Glorious Region of the Northeast formally petitions the President of Atlasia to call a Constitutional Convention.
