Gonzales would be a horrible choice, the anti-gun pro-abortion pro-torture hack.  He's wrong on just about every issue.  Just because you're pro-torture doesn't mean you're moderate.

Cornyn was considered (allegedly) by Bush two months ago and the Democrats named four Senators as candidates they could support. I doubt any will be considered seriously though.

RIP for a good person. Unfortunately, the partisan sh*tstorm this is going to kick up (if not with the switch to having Roberts fill in, then certainly with the renewed O'Connor replacement) is really not needed right now...
