The CNN exit polls are very enlightening on the presidential election result.  Here are a few tidbits:

1.   Did Any Campaign Contact You Personally?
Total         Obama   McCain   Other/No Answer
Yes, Only Obama
(13%)         80%   19%   1%
Yes, Only McCain
(6%)         17   82   2
Yes, Both
(13%)         47   51   2
No Contact
(66%)         50   48   2

So, it looks like the superior Obama voter contact effort significantly impacted the results.

2.   Worried About Another Terrorist Attack in U.S.?
Total                                        Obama     McCain     Other/No Answer
Yes (70%)      48%   50%   2%
No (28%)                      67   30   3

If Obama takes steps to reduce the national security system and a terrorist attack occurs in the U.S., this could spell big trouble for his candidacy.

3.   Offshore Drilling Where Not Currently Allowed
Total                                        Obama     McCain     Other/No Answer
Favor (67%)      39%   59%   2%
Oppose (28%)      86   12   2

As I previously noted, the desire for increased drilling for oil in the United States is widespread.  If Obama enacts policies to stop such drilling, and another oil crisis occurs, this is another area of potential trouble for his presidency.

4.   Was McCain Choice of Palin a Factor In Your Vote?
Total                                        Obama     McCain     Other/No Answer
Yes (60%)      43%   56%         1
No (33%)                      65   33            2

Despite the hate filled attacks on Sarah Palin, this indicates she was a significant benefit in McCain's campaign.
