Alright, as always, some background info as to what really happened: Jerry Brown was winning a bunch of western primaries, and was making a comeback. He was barely ahead of Clinton in New York and Wisconsin and way ahead of him in Brown's home state of California. During this surge, he announced that he'd consider picking Jesse JAckson as his runningmate. Come late March, Clinton had beat Brown in all three states. So the scenario: Jerry Brown turns off Jewish voters by saying he would possibly name Jesse Jackson as his runningmate. Still, it's hard to stave off the momentum, and the black vote in New York comes out in droves for Brown, while the Jewish voters stay home, disliking the fact that Brown named Jackson as a possible veep (because of "Hymietown"), while also disliking Bill Clinton's liberal, yet down-home southern attitude. He's the polar opposite of the rich, voting Jewish population. So Brown wins New York, and again, voters from Compton, Oakland (mostly black), etc... come out for Brown, and Brow wins comfortably by 5%. He also wins Wisconsin with his phone-in campaign. So Brown wins the nomination, and it's off to the general election. My prediction: He loses by a landslide, with Perot being a slight spoiler, but if he hadn't been in there, he would've done awfuly. Jackson is just too radical for America, and it's just too soon to have an african american on a major ticket. Here's an actual button made from Brown supporters:
