anyone agree?

obviously the electoral map will be much different.

but same type of dynamics.  americans want change.  unsure of the candidate that promotes change.  then becomes comfortable with the change candidate.

ill be honest, i havent followed the polls like i normally would.  i havent been doing well, but that is a whole other subject.

if the election were held tomorrow...itd be ugly.

and yes...im going to be patient, though.  Smiley

It seems like 1980.

Remember Carter had a lead in the polls before that debate and afterwards it turned into a Huge landslide for Reagan overnight.

Obama needed to insure those old white democrats and it seems he's doing that.

Yeah, there are some similarities. I don't think it will be a blowout of that magnitude though. And there is still the whole race question...

I hope things get better for you on a personal level, Walter.

Dems don't win lanslides because of how the country is divided and republicans either vote for there guy or stay home, compared to dems who will vote for the other party.

300 electoral votes  i could see happening though.

Obama takes Virginia by 1%
Obama takes NM and CO
Obama holds Pa by 2%  and takes MI by 5%

Thats my maybe prediction.

Unless McCain makes some major gaffe like the N-word or somthing then i don't see a 1980 type of blowout.  Try 1976 type of win.

If it's just because you want Hillary to have another shot in 2012, then that's really pathetic.

You know, it is interesting to note that there were a bunch of states that Reagan just barely won in '80. Mostly southern states and such, if I remember correctly.

Yeah, Carter was only behind by 1-3 points in most of the South.  It made for a lopsided electoral college.

Well, in some ways Obama reminds me of Reagan - charismatic and hopeful.

Though the incumbent is not running, they are unpopular; and many people have lost confidence in their government and elected officials.

I don't believe that history repeats itself, but I will admit it sometimes hums familiar refrains.
