During the middle of the afternoon today around 2:45 Eastern Time, Republican Presidential John McCain decided to suspend his campaign and go back to Washington to debate the bailout plan that President Bush is going to speak on tonight.  He's calling on Barack Obama to do the same.  Later this afternoon, Obama refused that request and then the Presidential Debate Commission said the debate would proceed as planned.

Should McCain have suspended his campaign?

No.

As if we needed another example, McCain's campaign is INSANE.

No.  The idea that McCain needs the VP debate time off to save the economy is silly.  This is a political move, and not one I especially appreciate.

Of course not. It's just an overdramatic move to score some points. Nobody thought he *should*. Nobody.. Until somebody in his campaign came up with this plan.
On top of that it's even more lame/silly/worrying that he wants to suspend the debate.

There will be economic questions asked during the debate on Friday and both campaigns have known this for over a week.  This doesn't look good....

It has to, right?

How could Jim Lehrer, a newsman, not ask about the economy?

Well, he will.

A senior Obama adviser says that the CPD has told both campaigns that there will be questions about the economic crisis during Friday's debate.

They were told this last week...

He might be planning on showing up anyways, and this is just the bullsh**t expectations game.

Palin may not, but Biden may.
