9/14-9/16, 671 Likely Voters, MOE +/- 3.9%

Obama    52%
McCain    44%

Link

The suspect thing in this poll is that Obama does better with male voters than female voters.  However, I expect Obama to do better with the female vote that this poll shows (+6%).

SurveyUSA: Obama Holds Solid Lead in New Mexico

A new SurveyUSA poll in New Mexico finds  Sen. Barack Obama leading Sen. John McCain by 8 points, 52% to 44%.

Key findings: "McCain leads by 11 among whites; Obama leads by 41 among Hispanics. Obama leads by 12 among voters younger than Obama. McCain leads by 10 among voters older than McCain. Half of voters say the economy is most important. Among those voters, Obama leads 3:2. Obama leads among the more educated. McCain leads among the less educated. Obama leads among the less affluent. McCain leads among the more affluent."

Santa Fe postgrad bohemians vs. Albuquerque 'burb college-educated management folks?

As for the topline: gotta love New Mexico polling.

No, it's just (as Alcon more or less stated) that the "more educated" and "less affluent" categories combined leave behind a bachelor's degree level, middle class gap, essentially, a demographic that is solidly republican.

In 2004 it was the opposite in NM. Some polls with Kerry ahead and most showing Bush ahead.

I think Obama takes NM by 2-5%.

Wow. I'm one hell of an anomaly.

We have two good polls that show McCain ahead, and a whole bunch of bad ones that show Obama ahead.  It's a close state, but I'll give it to Obama.

Ehh...you may fit into that literally, but you're totally not the demographic I'm talking about here.  You're young, unmarried and working your first post-college job.
