The newest line of attack by the McCain campaign is that they are being unfairly mistreated by the press.

Is that a winning line of attack in this election?

I vote no.

What election has ever been won of the back of a "you should feel sorry for me" vote?

My guess would be many.  Ridge actually used the "unwarranted attack" line in 1998, but I'd guess he would have won without it.  To some extent, Clinton in 1996 and the Democratic gains in 1998.

no, they can NOT win on a sympathy vote.  McCain/Palin message has to be about having the courage and competence to force change and protect this country.  Period
