The link doesn't work for me, but I'm sure both campaigns will be "absolutely shocked" (verbatim) at it.

It's about Obama comparing himself to Hilton a few years ago.

It's not a comparison; Obama says he's more exposed (to public scrutiny) than Hilton.

Works now.  Still mostly tired of this being a campaign "issue."  I understand that some voters out there are always going to judge based on a candidate's tie.  And plenty more are going to judge based on ridiculous media memes ("elitist," "old," "flip-flopper," "just like Bush," etc.)  I just wish the candidates would stop encouraging it -- especially actively.  Not that we aren't doing our part, too.

A self-effacing joke is a bit different to me than an attack ad (even if it's "just having fun").  And I wish people would stop getting their Paris Hilton in our politics, damn it.

He's noting a similarity to Hilton in terms of her media exposure.  I consider that comparison.

But McCain's ad was going much further than that. McCain's ad was claiming that Obama was as lightweight as Hilton, and Obama wasn't making that comparison at all. Hence, it does not cheapen the absurdity of the comparison, and trying to make this of significance just adds cheap stunt to cheap stunt. I can't believe you're going for this, TrueDem.

McCain's comparison might be worse and not factual or right, but Obama's words are nonetheless a comparison.  That is simply an undeniable fact.

True, but Verily should have said, it's not the comparison. But it's a trivial point.
