No, no. We're not that lucky. Not that Scranton native.  Wink

Sen. Joe Biden would be a fairly good choice as VP running mate to someone like a Bill Clinton or an Ed Rendell at the top of the ticket:  politicians with extensive economic records who have served in various executive capacities for many years such as mayor or governor.

But a running-mate to Obama, who has neither a track record on foreign policy or economic matters?  I'm thinking not.

Compared to Casey he's amiable.  He's much more dangerous of a sleeze though.

Obama needs some of that in his campaign, however.  Fills a void.

Biden's too old. We must have a candidate who can become president afterwards.

Why?  Isn't it actually kind of better to keep your options open for 2016?  Think about what the GOP would be facing now if Bush had a VP who had run for, and won, the party's 2008 presidential nomination.  Even if that person wasn't as unpopular as Cheney, he'd be unable to separate himself from an unpopular president at all.  It's only because McCain isn't part of the current administration that he even has an outside chance of winning this year.

This is a step down for Biden anyway. How could anybody with self-respect, with Biden's credentials, serve underneath someone so non-accomplished.

Lol, as if Biden cares about how accomplished Obama is.  Obama would be the president.  Serving as his VP would be a step up in fame, influence, and prestige from where Biden is now.

February 19th, 2009. The scene: Secret White House room under the new basketball court.

Secretary of State: Mr. President,  CIA reconnaissance photos indicate that the Tasmanians are planning a full-scale invasion of Australia.

Obama to aide: Is ESPN on? I think the Lakers are playing the Bulls tonight.

Biden: This reminds me of that time in August 4th, 1983 when I visited Australia. It wasn't the first trip I made to that island nation -- or is it a continent?  Hmm, what is a continent, anyway? I've consulted several dictionaries and each have slightly different answers. As I was saying, my trip to Australia, which wasn't my first nor was it my last, began when I arrived in Sydney at 3PM. I was dressed in my summer attire. Summers in Delaware are hot because as I've said before, Delaware is a Southern state. What I had forgotten was that it's was winter in August in Australia.

SoS: Can we get back to the briefing?

Biden: Australia is like opposite land. Speaking of opposites, Obama and I are complete opposites in many ways. In college, I learned to elucidate on my points. Elucidate, or hallucinate, sometimes I can't tell the difference.

Obama: Yes. Derrick Rose drilled the game-winning 3! I told you -- he was the right pick.

Biden: Roses are sometimes red, a fact that my wife reminded me of yesterday.

SoS walks out of the room.
