Chris is an FF, Andrew is an HP, HB on balance.
literally how
He's rough-edged, but I respect his journalistic career enough to give him an FF rating.
Have you heard about the recent news, though?
I have, and I'm not sure to what extent his behavior is troublesome. We'll probably never know the details in all likelihood. So I'll go with the median, assuming neither the worst nor the best.
I'm not one to fault him for trying to help his brother, that's perfectly acceptable to me. In the abstract anyway. The worst possibility is if he sought to enable the worst of his brother's behavior and engaged in the same stuff, in an effort to help him politically. The best would be if he sought to explain to his brother that it maybe had not been perfectly fine. I don't judge either to be the likeliest. Most likely it's not something massively scandalworthy, nor is it something that posits him as some kind of white knight trying to guide his brother to some better place.
Rather, something more humdrum, more mundane. His brother asks for advice in navigating things, doesn't necessarily tell him literally everything, and solicits his advice, drawn up from years of experience in the media business. He provides that, dutifully.
Chris Coumo is a human being; he does human things. To quote Shakespeare: All the world's a stage, and all men and women mere players.
And there's no real evidence he's remotely on his brother's level. It's awfully reductive to think "they're brothers, they both smell, both HP". They are separate individuals, and to be frank, to see the world in such unforgiving, puritanical terms strikes me as poisonous to one's worldview. You aren't in Chris Coumo's place, we haven't walked in his shoes, we shouldn't necessarily be completely judgmental here. And in any case, the only sexual misconduct claim against him I've ever heard of, has precisely zero credibility.
I'm not one inclined to think of actions like Chris Coumo's as disqualifying of FF status (even if he is not all that remarkable even then). He seems to be one of the better people on CNN, and that's saying a lot. I don't think he deserved to be suspended like this, there are worse people on the network, and I don't have a particularly high opinion of the network or its journalists as a whole either.
