Well, he'd be the most experienced Vice President in history.

Obama/random governor. With express promise that Gore will be SoS, and a Gore campaign role comparable to a second VP candidate.

That's what I want.

It would be an insult to Gore's ego to run as a VP (again) after failing to be President.

If he didn't want to be President, then I seriously doubt he wants to be Vice President.

I read of this idea elsewhere, and I think the proposal is that he'd have a larger audience than he would as a private citizen, but without the responsibility of the President. He'd be a great pick if they could get him, and that's unlikely.

I somewhat doubt that Gore wants it, and unlike other VP prospects, he might not be nearly as overjoyed to be offered..translating into less passionate campaigning.

Besides, the American mainstream not too long ago believed Gore had gone off the deep end, would it be that hard for the Republican machine to recreate the perception that Gore is loony?

Apparently. Adlai Stevenson is just no name to have if you wanna be President.

I don't think it's true that the American mainstream ever believed any such thing.  The right-wing noise machine told us again and again that Gore was insane, but that didn't make it so, and it didn't make it conventional wisdom.
