Cosby took a lot sh**t for saying pretty much the same thing.

Brave move to hit on this touchy (but true) subject.

I think that's a bit of a stretch though.  Cosby's campaign is much more heated and sharp, while Obama's is more of repeating the Million Man March mantra.  Both are good messages, but the MMM's mantra was much softer than Cosby's tone.   Hence the reason for the following 4 years ago:

"Wow! That was amazing! So powerful! I couldn't agree more!" - Obama supporters when Obama says this stuff.

"Racist." - Obama supporters when anyone else says this stuff.

Sadly, that's quite true.  If McCain said it that would probably end his candidacy.

Y'see, the kids, they listen to the rap music, which gives them the brain damage. With their hippin' and their hoppin', and their bippin', and their boppin'...so they don't know what the jazz is all about!  You see, jazz is like a Jello Pudding pop - no! Actually, it's more like Kodak film - no! Actually, jazz is like the new Coke; it'll be around forever!  Heh heh heh...

Obama is black. Had he made similar comments about a white ethnic group, as he did with the "bitter people clinging to their guns" comment, there would be a media firestorm.

Oh, so it's only ok when people of the same race/ethnic group criticize that race/ethnic group? What a silly world we live in.

I don't think he said anything about it being "OK"

He saying that there would be a firestorm if he said it about white people. There was no firestorm because he said it about black people. That seems to be an excuse for why this isn't a big deal and why it shouldn't be.

The post he quoted was you pointing out a hypocrisy (whites getting blasted for making judgments on blacks)

He was pointing out that he felt the same thing happened to Obama, yet you seemed to lack outrage.

I'm not endorsing what he said, but you're misconstruing it.

What Obama said about religious people and those who own guns wasn't a exactly a criticism in the way we're talking about. I love how we can assume his guns and religion comments were just about whites though.
