Let's suppose in late 2003, New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton decides to run for the Presidency of the United States and consequently the 2004 Democratic Presidential nomination. Despite losing the Iowa Caucuses to Senator John Kerry, Senator Clinton bounces back and wins the New Hampshire Primary. From New Hampshire onwards, Senator Clinton up enough momentum to secure the Democratic Nomination.

At the Democratic National Convention in Boston, Senator Clinton is nominated on the first ballot easily, despite 43 delegates voting for Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich. For Vice President, Senator Clinton selects Governor of Iowa Tom Vilsack.

Whilst on the Republican side, President George W. Bush faces no challenges and easily wins the Republican Nomination. However, due to ill health, Vice President Dick Cheney decides at the Republican National Convention in New York City, not to seek another term as Vice President. At the Convention, President Bush selects Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge of Pennsylvania to replace Vice President Cheney and consequently be his running mate in 2004.

How would the 2004 Presidential Election turn out if these were the tickets nominated by the respective parties?

Democratic

Senator Hillary Clinton of New York
Governor Tom Vilsack of Iowa

Republican

President George W. Bush of Texas
Secretary Tom Ridge of Pennsylvania

Discuss with maps. I'll post my thoughts on this Clinton vs. Bush matchup later.

George W. Bush/Tom Ridge (R): 298 EV, 51% of the PV
Hillary Clinton/Tom Vilsack (D): 240 EV, 49% of the PV

Hillary Clinton narrowly misses out on becoming America's first female President and 44th President of the United States. Senator Clinton narrowly loses Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and Nevada to Bush costing her the Presidency.

I agree Bush wins with about 300 EV.

Both of these maps are reasonable.
