2004 EU elections

Department-wide results
PS 31.58%
UDF 15.05%
UMP 13.39%
Greenies 9.66%
MPF 8.36%
FN 5.09%
PCF 3.25%
RDG 2.9%
LO-LCR 2.5%
CPNT 1.51%

The UMP did awful in big cities, sometimes even placing fourth (like in Rennes) behind the UDF... and the Greenies! The right did well in the east, which is more right-wing. Oh, and the Hunault effect spread to the small communes north of his stronghold.

I'll do some old presidential results map by constituency now.

Lecanuet %

1965 first round

1965 runoff

Some patterns are still present today, such as the left-wing stronghold in Guingamp, Saint-Nazaire etc.

Various sources.

1969 first round

1969 runoff

I have 1974 done, but I'm spotted a few errors in the data and I need to fix some of it (yes, like Giscard taking 60% in Saint-Nazaire constituency...)

Uh, 1974 won't be posted because there are big errors and posting them here would be bad. Until they get reliable stuff and so forth, then I won't.

1981, anyways. I'm tempted to make a map for Lalonde and Marchais.

Do Marchais! I like him. Smiley

Can you be more specific than "various sources"?

Amusing comparisons of the Ille-et-Vilaine general councils before the 1998 elections and after the 2008 elections:

1994-1998:

The first map includes the 1992 series, where the left did, uhm, horribly.

Same with the Cotes-d'Armor. For the same reasons (right-wing collapse) but also for the PCF collapse in the Guingamp and area. Will do Morbihan too, it also (had) a Commie presence before (in the 6th constituency). The right didn't do horribly in 2008. IIRC, they had a net lost of one seat (-4 seats, +3 seats). The PCF did horribly. They lost in the working class city of Ploufragan narrowly (Saint-Brieuc suburbia, where my aunt lives), something they can't afford to lose.
