Not sure. I wouldn't have been thrilled by any of the choices.

This. I'd definitely vote in the Republican primary in 1980. My mother, who lived in Massachusetts at the time, said a few minutes in 1980 was her only experience as a Republican, to vote for Anderson in the primary. (Not that she liked him more than Carter, but Kennedy was going to win the Democratic primary there anyway. My mother was and is an extremely partisan Democrat.)

I'm not sure which year was worse for Democratic Primary choices. 1980 or 2004?

Carter. Not exactly a banner year for choices, however.

1980. Clark and Edwards were very viable candidates, whether you like them or not. Dean could have been too if he knew when to shut the hell up... But then if he did he wouldn't be Howard Dean. Oh well, some things are just too good to be.

I was a conservative Republican at the time.  But if I could go back in time, probably Carter.

Much as I agree with Teddy on almost all the issues, I still have serious problems with the man's integrity after Chappaquiddick.
