Just take a look at his ad about needing a "Veto-Overriding" majority in the Senate. Since he definitley can't have a special election this spring, he must believe he'd be getting in with a Republican President.

I think it's just a figure of speech.  You're reading too much into this ad.

I think that ad’s incredibly stupid. What if I’m a moderate Republican or something who likes Musgrove but does not want the dems to be able to override vetoes? I mean, could you imagine a Republican running in California or Connecticut running the same sort of ad? I can’t imagine it helping all that much.

Then again, the only people who are going to see it are people who are heavily interested in politics anyway, so it can’t hurt all that much. But I still get a chuckle out of it.

Well, it can't just be a "figure of speech." He's a Democrat running and wants the Democrats to have a veto overriding Senate. It was put up assuming he'd be in office while Bush was President. They simply didn't take it down.

I was "reading too far into" it for some humor.  Wink

Oh right, Ronnie Musgrove.
I was thinking of Marylin Musgrove at first, which made no sense whatsoever.

It's Marilyn Musgrave.

Musgrove's not going to win, anyway. His only tangible chance of victory was a pre-November special.

Musgrove would take office immediately in November should he win, and would have 10 weeks to serve in the Senate while Bush was still president.

Oh, I forgot that it works that way. Well, I think it's safe to say the Dem majority wouldn't pass much in that time period for Bush to veto anyway. Plus, there wouldn't be a "veto over-riding" majority anyway; there would be only 50 (52 if you count Lieberman and Sanders) Democratic Senators anyway.

Musgrove probably wants McCain to win. Mississippi Dems are similar to national Republicans when it all comes down to it.

Taylor is, I dare say, the most conservative Democrat in the House. I did my, hypothetical, NJ 2006 Vote Ratings and, surprisingly, emerged quite to the right of Gene Taylor on social votes but much further left on economic

Furthermore, in the Senate, I'd have out-hawked Joe Lieberman by a stretch too

And I've 'endorsed' Obama. I have my reasons Smiley

I hate to admit it, but that's the first thing I thought too.
