What would have happened if LBJ would have been the Democrat nominee in 1960?

I would've voted for Nixon. Yuck. This is probably the only election where Nixon is the least corrupt of the two.

You know, why on earth Nixon thought he had to do what he did is beyond me. He had that election locked up in 1972.

He did not do Watergate.  Democrat operatives sent them in to bring down Nixon.

Sorry, your pal Gordon Liddy admitted to planning to murder someone when he was part of the Nixon adminstration.

I don't think it would have even been a remote possibility. Humphrey was a better campaigner, and Kennedy and Stuart Symington had better organizations.

I don't think Johnson could've done it.

If Johnson had his way, he would have picked Humphrey like he did in 64. Johnson didn't like Symington. Symington would have wanted to voice his opinion, an have a balanced relationship with his Chief. Humphrey was totally loyal, and he would have been more submissive. Just my take.

Texas had 24 electoral votes, Kennedy won 303, without Texas he would have 279, he still wins.

If it was Kennedy/Humphrey, Kennedy would've gained a few midwest states that he lost. Which would make up for losing Texas.
