Just wondering... which Republican candidates do you think Bush might secretly favor, and which ones would he find undesirable? I know he's not saying, and he probably never will say. I doubt any candidate would want his endorsement anyway. But you know he must be following the race, and I wonder what his thoughts are on it. And, for that matter, Cheney's thoughts and preferences.

I think they like Giuliani, he is their best bet in foreign policy to carry on the president's legacy.

Bush's favorite candidate isn't a Republican.

Yea, he said Hillary was Eisenhower to his Truman but Gorkay specified which Republican is most likely.

After watching Dan Bartlett's candid video yesterday, I think it's Giuliani too.

Here's the video link if you haven't seen it: http://www.leadingauthorities.com/24384/Dan_Bartlett.htm

Giuliani for standing behind Bush for years.  Bush likes loyalty.  McCain has done the same thing, but 2000 made the two men hate each other too much for Bush to be rooting for McCain.

Clearly Giuliani. The chickenhawk blamed Bush's failure to secure the HMX explosives on the troops. You can't get any more pro-Bush than that.

Anybody that can continue his mess in Iraq.  Somebody that will keep us in there forever and not bring us home in his administration.

I did, but my thoughts are changing with every troop that is dying and with every time Bush doesn't even give a hint of coming home.  True we are bringing home a few of them by next Spring, but he gives absolutely no hint of the rest.

GW Bush's worst disservice to the Republican Party was to leave no heir.  Horrible VP with no political future, lost Collin Powell, a potential rock star, and turned off a generation of college age students.

I was mainly talking about a Republican administration in that post.  Any Democrat will do his or her best to bring us out, while I'm afraid a Republican will keep us in there with an open-ended commitment.

Hillary Clinton will not do this.

The only way Hillary Clinton is going to remove troops from Iraq is by transferring them to Iran.

Clinton may be ambitious, but she's not stupid.  If she wanted to be reelected, she'd pull them out by the end of her first four years.

At least it's better than a possible eight under Rudy.
