Seems like there won't be a marriage in 2008.

Gore: I've 'fallen out of love with politics'"

Former Vice President Al Gore said he has "fallen out of love with politics" and has no intentions of running for office again.

"The main reason is, I'm involved in a different kind of campaign -- to try to raise awareness of what I truly believe is the most serious crisis our civilization has ever faced," Gore told NBC's "Today Show," referring to global warming.

When asked why he wouldn't run for president again -- when presumably a president could shape an agenda to fight global warming -- Gore said those in power must have the support of the people to make it work.

It doesn't matter, people will still keep talking about him getting into the race up until the nominee is actually picked. Kind of like how people insisted that Hillary was getting into the race in 2004.

That sucks. I wish Gore wouldn't have strayed as far from his 2000 campaign. I would have supported him again.

Gore isn't running. If he were going to enter, he would have entered before the Clinton and Obama campaigns gained steam, like during the Oscar Awards Show.

It's not like he was exactly treated fairly in his 2000 race. Screw the media and screw SCOTUS.

the race would be more interesting with him in it than out of it. I always thought he would run as an independent with a republican and do some kind of wacky different kind of campaign that was all about 'changing politics' and such.

oh well

nah, he's far too loyal to the Democratic party (his family roots in it go back hundreds of years) for him to even consider sabotaging it like that.

While I continue to believe Gore will run, I admit watching his responses this week, he seemed much more determined to stay out of the race.  There was far less "teasing" about entering the race.  I personally think the media scrutiny this week regarding Al Gore III's arrest was a painful reminder of the intense pain the "political paparazzi" can inflict.

But his constant reference to 500 days make me believe he has calculated the optimum and latest days he could enter the race as a well-known candidate and still win.  He is not endorsing because he doesn't want to repeat his early 2004 "Howard Dean endorsement mistake."

However, it may take a serious stumble by Clinton/Obama to catapult Gore to enter.

I have lowered my odds from 95% to 65% that Gore will enter the 2008 Presidential Race.  But this notion of running independant is "crazy talk."  No way is that even remotely possible.

He's already said this 500,000 times before... I'm not sure why anyone is seriously surprised.  I never considered it a possibility Gore would run, nor do I, nor will I.
