I usually don’t because it’s almost always obsolete

I always maintain being as grammatically correct as possible in anything I write.

I’d recommend against ending your text messages with periods when texting friends or young people. Old people probably don’t think of it this way, but to a lot of Gen Z / Millennials, ending a text with a period often gives off the impression that you’re annoyed or mad, whereas not ending with a period gives off a more casual and easygoing impression

Well, people who know me know that I write that way. And I mostly do it to be as clear as possible.

If it's one sentence, probably not.  But, if I'm typing more than that, I'll usually finish the last sentence with punctuation (honestly probably an exclamation point, which I probably drastically overuse in texts).  I probably inadvertently leave it off sometimes too.  I can't imagine it mattering much either way.

A lot of young people are extremely mentally ill. You can usually tell if they go into their phone settings to turn off the automatic capitalization feature.

If a text message is a single sentence or less I don't include a period. If it's longer I do.

When I'm posting online or on Atlas I usully include full punctuation. The only exception would be single word posts or other unusual cases.

This is pretty much what I do as well.

No because it makes you seem cold and uninviting and overly serious in a text. On the atlas forum it depends.

I do it when I post. Sometimes I do it in texts, usually I try not to when texting someone familiar.

One of my signature moves is not using question marks at the end of standalone questions, both by texting and on the chat system at work. I find it compels people to pay more attention to what I'm asking when they are caught off-guard by the lack of interrogative cues.

my use of punctuation and capital letters almost entirely depends on how i'm feeling in the moment that i'm writing the comment.

Good, I'd hate to let people down when I meet them in person.

Others have already alluded to this, but "posts" and "texts" are rather different things. Texts are more informal, are meant to be short and can be concatenated together. Posts (on this forum, for example) are meant to be largely self-conclusive and on average much longer. Not ending forum posts with a full stop looks weird and awkward; with text messages it is more often the opposite, although it depends on the context and the medium.
