We are consistently seeing signs that economic sentiment is improving, right as we head into an election.

You can call it coincidence, but I say God's timing is always right.

I wonder why consumer confidence dropped so much Jan 2020? Most Americans hadn't heard of COVID yet

I think the big drop came in February 2020, when COVID started to become a bigger deal

I wish I believed in God-if he existed I don't think he would have put us through all this.

To me, the universe is random and chaotic, and we have to hope for the best.

I was half kidding. I’m somewhat agnostic myself and even if I was more devout, I’m not sure if I’d believe that God was putting his thumb on the scale for something like an election.

However, I do believe Joe Biden is a godly man who is trying his best to live out his Christian faith, while the evangelicals worship a false idol. A vengeful god might take issue with that!

If God exists (a question about which I am more or less neutral), then I have no doubt this universe was created as a beta test.

This must be another early sign of the inevitable 2024 recession a certain yellow avatar has warned us about. No offense, I couldn't resist 😁

The economy being bad is just a narrative being pushed by MAGA.

It’s not based in reality.

Agreed. And that is reflected the Dems' and Reps' views on the economy over the years.

Going from Trump to Biden, Republicans views on the economy changed overnight. However, when we went from Obama to Trump, Democrats' views didn't change as dramatically.

Clearly, Republicans are less likely to be honest about economic conditions if it conflicts with their own political beliefs.

Although what Thomas Jefferson said about a “just God”, I wouldn’t get ahead of ourselves.

There were some Democrats hoping for a recession back in 2019, even some here on Atlas

Yes, though the one reason some people beyond partisan Republicans believe that is the cost of living. While inflation has eased internationally, stuff is still more expensive than three, four years ago while wages mostly haven't kept pace with it. Biden needs to address this and point out that Trump's planned policies would make things worse for average people.

The opinion of a few red avatars on Atlas doesn't negate the intense tribalism among Republicans that consistently shows up in polling.

Both parties are NOT the same

A lot of people think the economy is bad because of inflation, and a certain group seem to think if Trump is elected, we'll miraculously revert to 2019 prices and interest rates. None of that is realistic, but that doesn't mean there are millions who believe that.
