The Portuguese autonomous region of Madeira is having elections today. The last elections were in 2004. However, the perpetual current head of Regional Government resigned after a Regional Finances law was passed by Lisbon that didn't allow him to suck the taxpayers dry as he was used to. However, it did give more of taxpayer-leaching privileges to the Azores, which tend to favor the PS in elections.

Last election results were:
PSD: 53,71% 44 seats
PS:27,41% 19 seats
CDS-PP:7,04% 2 seats
PCP-PEV:5,51% 2 seats
B.E.Curly,66% 1 seats

However, since then a new electoral law has been passed with new districts to increase proportionality. Results in five minutes folks.

Alright, the RTP exit polls gives:
PSD 62-67%
PS 14-17%
PCP/Greens 5-7%
CDS-PP 4-6%
BE 2-4%

The SIC exit poll, while not yet available online, gave the CDS-PP a greater share than the commies, and gave a wider margin of victory to the PSD. We'll see.
