https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-06-08/knife-attack-injures-children-in-french-town/102458564

"Police say four children, all around three years old, have been injured in a stabbing attack in the French town of Annecy.

Two of the children and an adult are in life-threatening condition.

Police say the other two children are "slightly hurt"."

"He jumped [in the playground], started shouting and then went towards the strollers, repeatedly hitting the little ones with a knife," a witness who gave his name as Ferdinand told French media.

This sort of thing has never happened with non asylum seekers, of course.

You could have at least said that your thoughts and prayers go out to the victims.

Does that even need saying tbh?

(and some of us don't do "prayers" anyway)

It was at least arguably more necessary to react to the usual bigotry tarring an entire diverse group of thousands with the actions of one low life (who may or may not have mental health issues)

The assailant said ‘in the name of Jesus Christ’ at the time of the attack.
During the stabbing attack against children, Thursday, in Annecy, the assailant said twice, in English, ‘in the name of Jesus Christ’, according to a video consulted by Le Monde.

The suspect, who was wearing a Christian cross when he was arrested, presented himself as a ‘Christian from Syria’ when applying for asylum at the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons (Ofpra) on 28 November 2022.

This is in line with reports about the suspect having an Arab Christian first name.

According to a source close the investigation joined by Le Monde, the assailant, of Syrian nationality, has benefited from a subsidiary protection in Sweden since November 2013 and therefore holds a residence permit which is valid until 2025. He is married to a Swedish woman with which he had a child, today aged of about three years. If at this stage of the inquiry, it is unknown when he came to France, he nevertheless filed an asylum application on 28 November 2022 which has been rejected. Ofpra’s rejection decision was taken on 26 April 2023, after taking into account the refugee status he is already enjoyed in Sweden and has been electronically notified to him on 4 June. Still according to this source close to the investigation, the assailant was not hosted nor had a known residency in France.

When applying for asylum in France, he had asserted his Christian faith. The police search would have additionally enable to find on him two icons of the Virgin Mary and Jesus Chris as well as a cross.

According to witnesses, the suspect was regularly sitting on a bench in the Pâquier Park (where the stabbings happened) all the day since about two months and looks like alone and ‘weird’.

At this point, the French authorities are excluding prosecuting the suspect for terrorism.

Wondering if dead man or the four Geniuses who liked his post have anything else cleverly Islamophobic to add now?

Hoping those poor children pull through. This whack job needs locked up

he stabbed them in the name of Jesus Christ, if you're a Trinitarian Christian that equals God. It doesn't really matter what kind of religious nutter he was

I apologize to the man who tried to murder 4 children for miss-religioning him.

I apologize to any Muslims I may have offended who do not believe violence should be done to people who mock their God.  (not sure why they would be offended, they should be more pissed off at those types of people than anyone else as they do far more harm to the religion's reputation than I ever could)

you may now return to your "thoughts and prayers"

He is not a Christian.

Refugees need to claim some sort of persecution. They can text 1,000 other refugees and simply find out whatever story works. If being of Islamic faith is detrimental to your chances of becoming a citizen in France, then "Hello Jesus".

Suddenly, he sounds like this guy

You Were Created To Soar

https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cs6YVu2gqg4/

This Syrian guy is not a real Christian. He is a Swedish Syrian refugee who, according to some media outlets, may have be seeking to move to France and had his application rejected 4 days ago.

We see similar violent bahaviour from Middle Eastern refugees in Australia if their application is denied.

They will do or say anything not to be sent back to Syria.

It is incredibly likely the man had a Muslim identity.
Whatever identity he had is of course irrelevant, as you have bad apples in any sufficiently large enough group.

The only guy who thwarted the Syrian madman.

A French guy named Henri who undoubtedly saved the lives of the children.

Impressed that you and PP feel able to assert this with such certainty despite zero actual evidence.

What would it take to convince you that a Christian can commit acts of violence?

To answer your question is quite simple. Out of the 276 innocent people killed in France in the last 10 years through terrorism, how many would you put down to Islamic fundamentalists?

Barking up the wrong tree. A wrong-headed person of any race, religion, or ethnicity can commit savage crimes. That of course includes the People of the Book. Fixating on identity or category is extremely misguided here. It being this widespread generates brainrot and nonsensical chauvinism.
I know Christians can commit acts of violence. I deduce this specific man very likely had a Muslim identity because the lion's share of Syrians identify as Muslim. That he did does not say too much about Christianity, or Islam, or any other religion. His final judge will, of course, be God himself.

As an Arab Muslim, I am sure TimTurner is uniquely well-equipped to explain to us how a specific man called Abdalmasih who wore a Christian cross and stated his Christian faith on his asylum application is actually a Muslim.

Are you pinning your argument on the credibility of an alleged child stabber from Syria?

Maybe you can explain to us what drives a Syrian to stab 3 y.o. children in public in France?

Interesting. I was not aware of this part of the story. Then again, I was not particularly inclined to go down this particular rabbit hole. And yes, I am in fact aware of Arab Christians. The equating of Arabs with Muslims is very much inaccurate, in fact. But this is not the place to get in detail about it.

Instinct is hugely helpful in life, but does not cover everything.

I would say I do have better understanding of Arab Christians than the vast majority of users, but that's because they are Arab Christians and I am also Arab.
