From the LA Times via RealClearpolitics.com.  Real interesting observations, and also I find the term "Magic Negro"  (coined by a liberal journalist) to be quite amusing

I think it's more along the line of "if a white man said this he would be out of work."  Just like how Chris Rock can get away with saying "n" but certain other people can't.

I take offense at this implying that not all negroes are magical.

I'd say that article pretty much sums up why he is so popular and why he is doomed to lose.  Being the "Magic Negro" isn't going to get you very far in an election like this one.  Obama's star will start to fade once people get a good look at the other more qualified candidates in the race.

One possibility that I have thought could seriously happen is an Edwards/Obama ticket.  I think this could actually be one the strongest tickets the Democrats have to offer.  Now before you all jump on me and say "but you just said Obama is unqualified and Edwards barely has any more experience than he does"  I'm going to say this, "You are wrong."  Edwards has run for president once already and he has been part of a presidential ticket before.  He also has some actual ideas/ a real platform.  So far Obama's only idea is to end partisan politics.  Edwards' message of ending poverty seems to be just a wee bit more powerful if you ask me.

Why are people so convinced that Obama has no platform?

If Edwards' experience is losing a presidential primary and then losing the presidential race after being picked as VP, I don't really think that's the kind of experience people are looking for.

No dummy, 4 wishes.  Don't try to keep a black man down by limiting him to three wishes.  Racist!

The reason people insist on saying Obama has no platorm is because that is not a platform worth mentioning.  There is nothing in that platform that you can't find elesewhere in more qualified candidates.  Obama offers no uniqueness; there is nothing special about him from a policy/positions point of view.  He's just a typical, run-of-the-mill freshman Democratic Senator who happens to have gained a bit of celebrity due to his unique life story and to some degree his race.  I actually was once an Obama supporter but I lost interest in his candidacy when I realized the only thing he has to offer is "the audacity of hope."  I think most people will start to feel the same way once more the experienced candidates start to make more trips out to Iowa and New Hampshire.

But didn't you get the memo?  Obama speaks well for a black man, which makes him automatically eligible to be President and commander in Chief

lol, oops.  I guess I sorta shot myself in the foot there.  I still maintain that the limitted uniqueness that he has will not keep him relevant when it comes time to really talk about issue and getting things done.  I just don't see him as having enough staying power to make it all the way through to next year.

Basically Obama hasn't really come up with anything new to truly separate himself from the rest of the candidates, so no, he is not unique.  I do give him a lot of credit for being charismatic, but that will only carry him so far.  He needs substance in order to win, and he hasn't shown that yet.

Oh great . . . why do I see my taxes going up again?  Handing out additional wishes to appease a particular interest group?  Aladdin would be so upset.

Of course there are different standards for different things you silly asses.  The Republican Party advocates racist policy, while the Democrats less so.

In any case, the point the journalist was making here is that Obama is the sort of fake black that racist whites are willing to accept. Uncle Tom, etc.
