Any more, I'm a bit astonished any time I see a story of a figure of prominence dying before their 70s.

55 though? Did he have any serious health conditions? 55 feels way too young to just die suddenly, unless you have medical conditions and are generally in weaker health.

People drop dead at surprisingly young ages all the time, John Smith the former Labour leader in the early 90s had a surprise heart attack and died at 55 though he had a previous heart attack.
