Yeah, the Native Americans in OK (in stark contrast to counterparts in AZ, NM, and the Dakotas) vote quite Republican for some reason.

I think it’s more that the white and native people in Oklahoma are basically one assimilated population.

We're also seeing this happen in a lot of Hispanic communities and arguably Asians a bit with their scattering throughout largely white suburbs.

Yes and that’s a good thing. The idea that we all should be in permanent racial groups is horrible. Hopefully in the future we can get past these categories.

I really hope we see more integrated black communities in my generation. Black people are the racial minority with the longest history in this nation, and during all this time the polarization between blacks and whites in terms of neighborhoods is still very prominent today. Especially in the deep south, the racial sorting is very extreme even in relatively liberal cities like Atlanta and New Orleans.

You have a lot of Afro-Hispanic communities that have spawned up though.

Yes unfortunately black Americans will probably be the slowest to be fully assimilated because of all the historical injustices done to them. Perhaps those Afro Hispanic and new African immigrant communities can help be a bridge to end the historic social segregation of black Americans.

This reminds me of that recent (2020 or 2021?) poll showing that black-white race relations were at an all-time low, which wasn’t the case for any other pair of racial groups.

Re: Black-White relations at historic low

Only with White-Black relations it seems.

Quote
Americans' poor assessment of Black-White relations stands alone in their assessments of relations between other U.S. racial and ethnic groups. Majorities of Americans rate relations between Hispanic and White people, Black and Hispanic people, Asian and White people, and Black and Asian people as good. Full details of these data will be reported in a subsequent story.

Would be nice to see a version of this map with Asians and Pacific Islanders separated out from indigenous Americans.

I wanted too, but that’s impossible if you wanted to do purely by color since as soon as you add a 4th color things become imbalanced.
