Yeah, I have never heard of this before.

A lot of Americans in other parts of the country really don't seem to understand our state very well. For one thing, absolutely nobody I have ever met in my life says "Joisey."

Okay, but in my experience, even at New Jersey delis, I have never seen or heard of this. Maybe it was popular at one time and went out of style? I don't know. Sloppy Joe to me has always been what everyone else thinks of as one.

Are you anywhere near Newark or the Oranges? The article implies that's where they're most popular.

I'm about a half hour to 45 minutes away from that area. I suppose that would make sense, but the implication of the thread is that it's a statewide quirk when in reality it seems to be a bit more of an Essex County thing.

It appears to basically be a turkey or ham sandwich with a lot of coleslaw, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing. Yeah that is kind of disgusting...really no need to go that route instead of just serving it as a straight turkey or ham sandwich.

This could be one guy named Joe (who is particularly untidy!) trying to start a trend.

Indeed. I'll defend my state for a lot, but not this. I'm disappointed to have even been made privy to this.
