Still, Americans remain optimistic about the country’s future. About two-thirds (68%), including majorities in both political parties, said in a spring 2022 survey that they had some or quite a lot of confidence in the future of the United States. About three-quarters of Democrats (74%) said this, as did 62% of Republicans.

A bar chart showing that Americans in both parties remain confident in the nation’s future
Americans remain generally hopeful about the future of the country even as they are dissatisfied with the present state of the nation. About half of Americans (51%) say they feel hopeful when thinking about the state of the country these days, the same survey found. As has been the case since Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election, Democrats (63%) are considerably more likely than Republicans (37%) to say they feel hopeful about the state of the country.

I'm wondering why Democrats are more optimistic than Republicans.

Honestly somewhat heartening to see this. Not what I would have expected, tbh. I suppose doomerism is going to be far more common in the circles in which we political junkies swim than with the average American.

Americans have much more in common than we think.

Get out of the bubbles; and talk to a Trump voter, and a progressive voter, they're similar.

Schools, healthcare, most americans are trying their best to provide for their kids, to have a better future.

If only they saw this rather than the Trump voter thinking that the progressive is an unhinged communist and the progressive seeing the Trump voter as fascist

Obviously, because just like the Forum Rs believe that it's gonna be a 241RH and 54RS and R plus9 election they believe they can best Biden and they lost to him 3 X's already the Rs haven't beaten Bill Clinton, Obama or Biden they beat Hillary, Gore and Kerry and I instantly knew when Kerry lost it was Gaffe prone Edwards fault and Wes Clark or Gephardt would have won, Kerry wanted Gephardt and he was told to pick Edwards but Edwards could of resigned and became cabinet not just Keep and campaigned for Kerry

But, the Rs have only beaten our weakest nominees

I remember Palin thought she can walk into the Veep debate and beat Biden and she Lost badly, Ryan was much more polished but in 2012 Romney with Bane Capital lost the Election

I don't like to rerun election but the facts are the facts Bill Clinton's and Obama and Biden our strongest candidates beat Rs and our weakest candidates Hillary, Gore and Kerry lost to Rs, Rs can't beat Biden and that goes for 24 but Booker could of win easily to over Trump

We're not even at Labor Day yet there is no red wave yet, and Biden Approvals fell not on policy only on high Gas prices and the Debt Ceiling no one want tax cuts in a Pandemic for the rich again which will be blocked with Collins and Murkowski vote anyway In a divided Senate even if Rs took over, but we want DC statehood after we defeat the Filibuster

This poll does nothing but show how self-deluded and out of touch with reality most Americans are if they think there's anything to be optimistic about.

Pessimism is much more rational than optimism. If you're wrong it will be a pleasant surprise, if you're right you will have been prepared for it.

It's 3.5 percent unemployment and whites have million dollar houses in the Suburbs, what are you talking about

That's why it's a 303 map with wave insurance it's 8.5 percent inflation but wages went up from 10.00 to 20.00 instead of  having to work 40 Hours for the same paycheck you can work less hrs they take out for lunch anyways

People don't acknowledge that everything went up because wages went up and at movie theatres and ballgames there was always inflatable prices 20.00 for a combo that you can buy at McDonald's for 7.00

Pizza, chips and a beer 7 and you spend 20 always at a Amusement park, Carnival, theatre or a ballgame, 3K at Disney world for a family of 4, there always been inflation, not in regular stores

Pessimism is much more rational than optimism. If you're wrong it will be a pleasant surprise, if you're right you will have been prepared for it.

And you get to enjoy living your life miserable as an added bonus.
No, expectthe worst but hope for the best. Like all things, find the balance.
