Who else agrees it was this one?

Certainly by far the most racist one.

I don't understand why that is "racist."  It is fearmongering and maybe a bit xenophobic, but not really so racist.

Well, gee, it only uses the Mexican flag in the background. The ad is simply flat out anti-Mexican, it doesn't even deal with illegal immigration and it's attacking Laffey for something that's only common sense.

The ID cards in question are issued by the Mexican government to Mexicans living outside Mexico legally. There's absolutely no reason it shouldn't be accepted as valid anymore than out of state driver's licenses be accepted as valid ID in other states, or in other countries. The ad contains three key words "if fraudently obtained". This applies to any ID card if fraudently obtained. Guess what, fake IDs exist in the US too.

It also seems to imply that Mexicans pose a terrorist threat. Just think, we're letting Mexicans enter government buildings and board planes!

The ad has nothing to do with illegal immigration, it just pure outright anti-Mexican racism.

Why not issue a passport, and then get a visa issued by the US Government?  Mexico has 45 consulates in the US.  So Mexican citizens lacking in documentation could simply go to their nearest consulate.  The Mexican government could put them up in a hotel, while waiting for the paperwork to be processed.

It can't be racist because "Mexican" is not a race.  It can, however, be very inflammatory towards Mexicans, which it is.

Anyway, I can't believe that even in Rhode Island, the Republican Party was trying to use illegal immigration as a weapon against their opponents...
